Creating App Configurations

App configurations allow you to select permissions and settings for a specific app in one place and send those selections to many devices at one time. Configuring apps in a central location (the Liminal EMM console), instead of on individual devices, ensures consistency and compliance across your environment.

Each app can only have one configuration enabled at a time.

To create an app configuration

  1. Navigate to your organization or site, and select the Apps tab.

  2. Click the name of the app you want to configure.

  3. In the Application Configs section, click Add, or select a config from the list and click Clone.

  4. Use the Runtime Permissions tab to configure permissions.

  5. Use the Install Options tab to configure how the app will be made available on devices.

    • Available. The app is available for the user to install from the device's Managed Play Store.

    • Kiosk. The device boots to the app, and it is the only app accessible to non-admin users.

    • Force Installed. The app is automatically installed on the device.

    • Required for Setup. The app must be installed during first time set up.

  6. Use the Configuration tab to configure settings for the app. The available options are provided by Google and vary app to app.
  7. Enter a name for the configuration.
  8. Click Save Config.

To deploy an app config

  1. Navigate to your organization or site, and select the Apps tab.

  2. Hover over the config in the list.

  3. Click the menu button, and select Enable.

  4. Click Deploy Policies for All Locations.
