RMA Devices
The RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) device state indicates that a device is out of commission for repairs or replacement. Using this flag signals that the device is not lost, even though it likely won't be able to complete a sync, and that it is expected to be in a different location than usual. RMA devices should be tracked carefully so that inventory, device state state, and ownership remain accurate.
To flag a device as RMA, navigate to its device details page and click the RMA button.
Best Practices
-
Update the RMA device state as soon as a change occurs.
-
Before updating the device state, confirm whether the device should be kept and repaired or removed and relplaced.
-
Coordinate with support or operations teams for devices that are being repaired or reassigned.
RMA Devices FAQs
No. RMA devices cannot have any device state besides RMA, so they cannot be active. Only mark devices as RMA when they are pulled from the line.
