What Can You Do About Lost Devices?
While there isn't a guaranteed way to find lost devices, Liminal EMM can help you identify where to start looking.
Where was it last seen?
If you have site maps enabled, you can use the filters on the Site Map tab for a site to filter for lost devices. This shows a list of lost devices, and access points that have recently seen a device that was flagged lost.
Click on an access point on the map to see timestamps of when they last saw your device. You can also click the expander arrow
on a device card to see the last access point it communicated with. The device may still be in the vicinity of the access point.
Who had it last?
To see who was the last person to check out a device, navigate to a site, and select the Inventory tab. Then, search for Lost, and locate the device in the list. The Last Worker column shows the last person to check out the device. They might have an idea of where it could be.
Lost Devices FAQs
You can try. Sometimes lost devices are unable to sync with the system and will not receive the lock command. Instead of relying on remote locks, we recommend setting up an enforcement configuration that automatically locks/wipes a device when it becomes non-compliant. For more information, see Enforcement Configuration.
