Worker Management Quickstart Guide
Enrolling your Devices
Depending on how you have licensed Liminal EMM, you may have multiple options for how to enroll devices. For details about the available options and step-by-step instructions, see Enrolling a Device.
Enabling Worker Device Logins
Liminal EMM can enable a kiosk-style mode on your worker devices, acting as a secure login and controlled app access layer for your workers.
To enable the worker login screen:
-
Navigate to your organization, and select the Configs tab.
-
Click Create > Device Experience.
-
Select the Features tab.
-
Enter an Admin Password. This gives admin users access to additional apps and troubleshooting features.
-
Enable Worker Login Mechanism (authcode).
-
Enter a name for the configuration. For example, enable worker login.
-
Click Save.
-
Hover over the config in the list.
-
Click the menu button
, and select Enable. -
Click Deploy Policies for X Locations.
Customizing the Device Look and Feel
Use the device experience configuration to customize device look and feel and allowed apps. For information about all of the available configuration options, see Device Experience Configuration.
To create a new device experience configuration:
-
Navigate to your organization or site, and select the Configs tab.
-
Click Create.
-
Select Device Experience.
-
Enter a name for the configuration.
To Add Company Branding
On the Device View tab, click the settings button
next to the device preview to add a background image. Select the second or third template option to enable a banner image.
To Create an App Whitelist
-
In the Apps section, click Browse catalog to select an app, or enter the package name for the app. The package name follows the pattern: com.example.app.
-
Click Add.
-
(Optional) Click the Admin Only button
to make this app available to admins but hidden to other workers.
Apps in this section are accessible only when installed on a device. Adding them to this list does not install them. For information about pushing apps to devices, see Pushing Apps to Devices.
To Deploy the Configuration
-
Save the configuration.
-
At the top of the page, click Deploy Policies for X Locations.
Adding your First Worker Admin
Worker admins have the ability to approve new workers.
-
Navigate to your site, and select the Workers tab.
-
Click the Create Worker button above the list.
-
Enter the worker's first name.
-
Enter the worker's last name.
-
Select the worker's permission level > Admin.
-
Click Save.
-
Click the worker's name in the worker list.
-
In the Worker Details section, click the eye icon
to reveal their auth code.
This worker admin can use their auth code to log in to devices and approve newly registered workers.
In the future, any worker who has registered on a device can be promoted to a worker admin or shift supervisor without creating a new worker entry. For more information, see Adding a Worker Admin.
Registering and Approving your First Worker
-
Select and turn on a device.
-
Leave the Worker Pin field empty, and tap Log In.
-
Tap Create New User.
-
Enter a First Name.
-
Enter a Last Name.
-
Tap Submit for Approval.
-
Enter the auth code of a worker admin.
-
Tap Approve.
-
Take a note of the new auth code. This will be required any time this worker logs in to a device in the future. The login user name that is displayed is just for reference, and will not be required for future logins.
We recommend printing a bar code or label of your auth code and attaching it to your badge or wallet.
-
Tap Got It! to complete registration.
-
Enter the worker auth code to log in to the device.
